Cairo – Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga said that the Indonesian government is preparing a collaboration with Egypt to promote palm oil trade in the region.

Deputy Minister Jerry made the statement during his visit to Savco, a palm oil processing company in the industrial zone 10 Ramadan in Sharqia province of Egypt on Saturday (27/04/2024). Accompanied by M. Syahran Bhakti S. as Indonesia’s Trade Attache to Cairo, Jerry met during the visit with Savco’s President Director Ammar Aboullaban.
According to Jerry, last year Savco had made a visit to Sinar Mas, an Indonesian palm oil company, as part of efforts to establish palm oil collaboration. Savco is interested to import around 5,000 tons of cooking oil per month from Indonesia. The cooking oil will be shipped to Adabya seaport in Egypt.
“Regarding this, we’re in a process of preparing a trade collaboration with Savco,” said Deputy Minister Jerry.
Jerry said that the government hopes the collaboration of Savco and Sinar Mas can be soon realized and other companies in Indonesia and Egypt will follow suit.
“The Indonesian government will facilitate the collaboration of Savco and Sinar Mas. It’s a step forward for Indonesia and Egypt. Hopefully, other companies will follow suit,” said Jerry.
According to Deputy Minister Jerry, Indonesia’s palm oil exports to Egypt are mainly the refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) product. (*)
