KLHK To Hold Environment Festival

JAKARTA – The ministry of environment and forestry (KLHK) will hold a festival on environment, climate, forestry and renewable energy, which will feature, among others, the latest development of ecofriendly technologies to support sustainability in the future.

During a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (01/08/2024), the KLHK’s Director General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control (PPKL), Sigit Reliantoro said that KLHK wants to show the latest development of environmentally-friendly technologies and technological potential that can be realized in the future.

“President (Joko Widodo) has instructed that Indonesia should lead by example to tackle the climate change. We’re now collecting the examples, and evidences to show that we don’t just talk, but do real actions,” he said.

He cited several examples of technologies that will be exhibited, including the technology of geothermal, solar power plant (PLTS), green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Sigit said that they will also feature social innovations, which have been applied by several private companies, government performances during the last 10 years in environment and forestry sectors.

“The government performances will include performances in tackling the forest and land fires, social forestry, green infrastructure, such as monitoring equipment of water and air quality, land and forestry restoration,” said Sigit.

The festival, which is dubbed as LIKE 2 Festival, will be organized on 8-11 August 2024 in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Central Jakarta. (*)
