Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production in March 2025 reached 4,391 thousand tons, a 15.9% increase compared to February 2025, which recorded 3,789 thousand tons. Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) production also rose to 417 thousand tons from 354 thousand tons in February. As a result, total CPO and PKO production in March 2025 reached 4,808 thousand tons, 16.0% higher than the 4,144 thousand tons produced in February 2025. On a year-on-year (YoY) basis through March 2025, total CPO and PKO production reached 13,135 thousand tons, down 1.8% from 13,379 thousand tons in 2024.

Total domestic consumption increased by 114 thousand tons, from 2,032 thousand tons in February 2025 to 2,146 thousand tons in March 2025, marking a 5.61% rise. Biodiesel consumption rose from 1,003 thousand tons to 1,075 thousand tons, oleochemical consumption increased by 7 thousand tons from 175 to 182 thousand tons, and food consumption rose by 35 thousand tons from 854 to 889 thousand tons. On a YoY basis through March, domestic consumption in 2025 reached 6,049 thousand tons, 6.04% higher than the 5,704 thousand tons recorded in the same period of 2024.

Food consumption reached 2,501 thousand tons, up 4.41% from the previous year; oleochemical consumption stood at 554 thousand tons, a 0.9% increase; and biodiesel consumption totaled 2,994 thousand tons, up 8.49% year-on-year.

Total exports in March 2025 reached 2,878 thousand tons, 75 thousand tons higher than the 2,803 thousand tons recorded in February 2025. Export increases occurred across all product categories except for CPO, which fell by 77 thousand tons from 246 thousand tons in February to 169 thousand tons in March.

The largest export increase was seen in processed PKO, which rose from 112 thousand tons in February to 167 thousand tons in March (+49.15%). Processed palm oil (PO) exports rose slightly to 2,128 thousand tons in March from 2,079 thousand tons in February, while oleochemical exports increased to 407 thousand tons in March from 364 thousand tons in February.

Based on export destinations, declines were recorded for China, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, while exports to most other countries increased.
Compared to February, March exports to:

  • China dropped to 384 thousand tons from 434 thousand tons,

  • India fell to 271 thousand tons from 387 thousand tons,

  • Pakistan decreased to 234 thousand tons from 361 thousand tons,

  • Bangladesh declined to 147 thousand tons from 194 thousand tons.

In contrast, exports to:

  • European Union (EU) rose to 343 thousand tons from 298 thousand tons,

  • United States (USA) increased to 249 thousand tons from 153 thousand tons,

  • Middle East rose to 159 thousand tons from 113 thousand tons.

The export value for March 2025 reached US$ 3.283 billion (approximately IDR 54.1 trillion), up 2.84% from US$ 3.192 billion (around IDR 52.15 trillion) in February 2025. This increase was supported by a higher CPO price, which rose from US$ 1,232/ton in February to US$ 1,251/ton CIF Rotterdam. In addition to the price increase, the strengthening of the US dollar against the Indonesian rupiah—from IDR 16,338/USD in February to IDR 16,474/USD in March also contributed to the higher export value in rupiah terms.

With the aforementioned figures for production, consumption, and exports, the ending stock for March 2025 was recorded at 2,036 thousand tons, down 213 thousand tons from the previous month’s stock of 2,249 thousand tons.
