GAPKI Strengthens Global Partnerships Amid Rising Challenges

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) has concluded a week-long mission to USA and Europe with the signing of six memorandums of understanding (MoU) with partner organizations in the two continents. The mission has become a part of positive campaigns that have been continuosly conducted to support the Indonesian palm oil.

GAPKI’s senior delegates, consisting of GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono, Deputy Chairman Sany Anthony and Foreign Division Head Fadhil Hasan, visited the USA and four European countries from 18 to 26 November 2025. It is aimed to strengthen institutional relationships, facilitate dialogs with international stakeholders and increase understanding on the palm oil sector of Indonesia.

“This mission reflects GAPKI’s commitment to developing bridges with our international partners based on mutual respects and cooperation to achieve common goals,” GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono said.

The six MoUs signed during the week-long visit are aimed to develop a cooperation framework, covering trade facilities, sustainability initiatives, sharing knowledge and increasing technical capacity. The agreements are significant expansion of GAPKI’s international network.

Besides, the established cooperations had become a positive indicator which reflects the rising global interest to develop collaborations with palm oil producing countries to further advance the palm oil industry.

The main focus of the mission is to identify opportunities for cooperation with the international partners to increase market access for Indonesian palm oil products. Both sides’ delegates discussed ways to resolve the non-tariff barriers that had affected the trade flow and ensure that Indonesian producers are in good position to fulfill the continuously changing preferences of consumers in the main export markets.

As part of the mission schedule, the GAPKI delegates also held meetings with Indonesian diplomats assigned in the countries they visited for coordination on trade policies and diplomatic involvement.

“The six MoUs we’ve signed will create valuable opportunities for collaborations on trade, sustainability and capacity building,” said Eddy.

He said that by collaborating with those partners, GAPKI as palm oil industry players can get deeper understanding on the expectation of consumers, resolving trade barriers and ensuring that Indonesian palm oil products can continue fulfilling the highest standards demanded by the global market.

As an institution functioning to fight for the interest of palm oil industries at home and abroad, GAPKI is confident that through open dialogs and constructive involvements, collaborations to deal with global challenges will be easier to establish. “Through collaborations we can ensure our palm oil products will maintain its very important position in developing economy and preserving the environment,” Eddy said.

GAPKI represents the palm oil producers of Indonesia, which contributes around 60% of global production of palm oil. The association has been continually interacting with  stakeholders across the globe, with a view to promoting sustainability practices and dialogs based on real facts about the palm oil sector.
