PALM OIL PERFORMANCE IN SEPTEMBER 2023
Export of Processed Palm Oil Rises, Stock Decreases
The production of CPO in September 2023 reached 4,143 thousand tons, an increase of 7.5% from the production in August at 3,855 thousand tons. The production of PKO also rose by 7.6% from 366 thousand tons in August to 394 thousand tons in September 2023.
Total domestic consumption in September reached 1,979 thousand tons, a decrease of 2.9% from the domestic consumption in August at 2,037 thousand tons. The largest decrease was seen in the consumption for biodiesel, which decreased from 956 thousand tons in August 2023 to 924 thousand tons in September, followed by the consumption for foods from 898 thousand tons to 865 thousand tons. The consumption for oleochemical rose to 190 thousand tons in September from 183 thousand tons in August 2023.
Total exports in September 2023 saw an increase of 29.9% to 2,693 thousand tons from 2,073 thousand tons in August. The largest increase was seen in the export of processed CPO from 1,245 thousand tons in August to 1,968 thousand tons in September. The export of processed PKO also increased from 78 thousand tons in August to 130 thousand tons in September 2023, while the export of oleochemical decreased from 416 thousand tons in August to 333 thousand tons in September 2023. The largest decrease of exports was seen to China from 920 thousand tons in August to 781 thousand tons in September, while to India decreased from 744 thousand tons in August to 352 thousand tons in September.
With the initial stock in September 2023 reaching 3,238 thousand tons, production at 4,537 thousand tons, consumption at 1,979 thousand tons and exports at 2,693 thousand tons, then final stock by the end of September 2023 was 3,103 thousand tons, which was lower than the final stock by the end of August at 3,238 thousand tons.
