Apkasindo To Hold Smallholder Meeting In Jakarta

JAKARTA -The Association of Indonesian Oil Palm Smallholders (Apkasindo) will hold its 2nd national conference of Indonesian oil palm smallholders on 6 – 8 December 2023 in Jakarta. It is expected to be attended by around 1,000 oil palm smallholders from 22 palm oil producing provinces.

Apkasindo’s Communication and Promotion Division Head Qoyum Amri said that the conference will discuss the future of oil palm smallholders ahead of the general elections (Pemilu) 2024, policies in upstream and downstream palm oil industries, problems of replanting, trading and promotion.

“Amid political excitement ahead of Pemilu 2024, Apksindo stays committed to thinking about the future of palm oil sector as the strategic commodity of Indonesia. Around 17 million families of oil palm smallholders and 12 million families of palm oil workers rely on the palm oil sector across the country,” he said in Jakarta on Monday, 04 December 2023.

According to him, the conference will be also attended by other stakeholders from other associations, universities, academicians, government officials and students.

According to him, the conference will issue resolutions on palm oil development that will be presented to President Joko Widodo, related ministries, house of representatives’ (DPR) Commission IV DPR, and others.

Qoyum said that President Jokowi is also expected to address the conference to ensure Indonesia’s Palm Oil Industry in 2045, when Indonesia will celebrate its 100th independence, will reach its development goals. (*)
