JAKARTA – State-owned company (BUMN) PT Barata Indonesia has managed to develop a biodiesel reactor for production of biodiesel 100% or B100. Barata President Director Tjetjep Nirwan Mustofa said in Mimika, Central Papua, the biodiesel (B100) reactor is ready to start production.

According to him, the B100 reactor is part of the company’s efforts to support the government’s program to produce alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly.
“B100 is the future energy source for Indonesia. This is a great opportunity for Barata as BUMN in manufacturing sector to create added value in the downstream palm oil industries through the production of B100 that will strengthen Indonesia’s energy resilience,” Tjetjep said in a press release on Friday, 01 December 2023.
He said that a test of full capacity in 6 reactors of B100 had been conducted recently. The test was witnessed by, among others, Minamas Plantation CEO Adi Wira Abd Razak, inventors of B100 reactors, and a number of technical staff members from the Industrial and Refresher Standardization Board (BSIP).
Adi Wira said that he is satisfied with the development of the 6 reactors of B100 with an impressive capacity of 3,000 liters per six hours.
He said that the success will further strengthen the position of Indonesia in developing renewable energy.
“We’re very happy seeing the success of this test and the significant development of B100 reactors. This is a concrete step in realizing Indonesian vision as a leader in the renewable energy sector,” said Adi.
The B100 reactors are used to convert crude palm oil (CPO) into ecofriendly biofuel based on vegetable oils or animal fats through the process of esterification or transesterification. (*)
