JAKARTA – The ministry of national development planning/the national development planning board (PPN/Bappenas) released a document of Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP) 2025-2045.

The IBSAP 2025-2045 document was designed by the ministry of PPN/Bappenas, the ministry of environment and forestry (KLHK), the ministry of marine and fishery, the ministry of agriculture, the national research and innovation board, and other stakeholders, including universities, mass organizations and indigenous communities.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that the document of IBSAP 2025-2045 functions as a strategic guideline in managing biodiversity in Indonesia based on sustainability principles and in line with the vision of Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) 2045.
According to the vice president, the biodiversity in Indonesia is not just regarded as a source of foods. “It is the source of economic growth that should be managed with the necessary innovations and technologies in accordance with the principles of sustainability and justice.
“We should manage our biodiversity holistically, integrating the ecosystems of lands and waters for the optimum welfare of our people,” Ma’ruf Amin said in a press release on Friday (09/08/2024).
According to him, the IBSAP 2025-2045 document has three goals, namely the sustainability of ecosystem, species, and genetic; sustainability of utilization; and sustainability of implementation to maintain the sustainable biodiversity.
“The conservation of biodiversity in Indonesia has shown a significant progress. In 2023, the protected land areas had reached 26.7 percent and waters at 8.9 percent, while the target is set at 30 percent in 2045.
“The strategy and action plan formulated in the IBSAP 2025-2045 document will function as a guideline for all stakeholders participating in the efforts of realizing sustainable economic growth and the vision of Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) 2045,” he said.
Meanwhile, National Development Planning (PPN) Minister Suharso Monoarfa said the document of IBSAP 2025-2045 also contains the clear benchmarks and measurements to evaluate each achievement and target. (*)
