CONSUMPTION AND EXPORT DROP, STOCK RISES
JAKARTA – The total production of CPO in January 2025 reached 3,828 thousand tons and PKO at 356 thousand tons, making total production of CPO and PKO drop to 4,184 thousand tons or lower by 53 thousand tons (-1,25%) compared to production in December 2024 at 4,237 thousand tons. The production in January 2025 was also lower than production in January 2024 at 4,634 thousand tons (-9,7%).
The total consumption in January 2025 reached 1,871 thousand tons, which was also lower (-14,45%) than consumption in December 2024 at 2,187 thousand tons. A big drop was seen for foods at 758 thousand tons as compared to 961 thousand tons in December 2024 (-21,12%) and for biodiesel decreased to 916 thousand tons from 1,046 thousand tons at the previous month (-12,44%). The consumption for oleo-chemical reached 197 thousand tons from 180 thousand tons at the previous month (+9,44%).
Total exports in January 2025 reached 1,960 thousand tons, which were lower by 100 thousand tons compared to the achievement in December 2024 at 2,060 thousand tons. A decrease was seen in the export of oleo-chemical from 428 thousand tons in December 2024 to 388 thousand tons (-9,43%), export of CPO from 69 thousand tons in December 2024 to 39 thousand tons (-43,58%), export of processed CPO products from 1,465 thousand tons in December 2024 to 1,449 thousand tons (-1,1%).
Based on country of destination, export volume in January 2025 compared to exports in December 2024 was seen decrease to Pakistan at 199 thousand tons (-53%), to China at 197 thousand tons (-42%), to India at 62 thousand tons (-36%), to Malaysia at 60 thousand tons (-41%), to USA at 49 thousand tons (- 22%), while export increase was seen to EU at 69 thousand ton (+53%), to Africa at 48 thousand tons (18%), which included to Egypt at 37 thousand tons (73%).
The decrease of export volume and export price from US$1,313/ton Cif Rotterdam in December 2024 to US$1,208 caused a decrease in export value from US$2,379 million (equivalent to Rp38 trillion) to US$ 2,274 million (equivalent to Rp36 trillion). The total value of exports of palm oil products in January 2025 was around 10.9% of the total non-oil-gas exports that reached US$20.84 billion. With production, consumption, and exports mentioned before, then the final stock in January 2025 reached 2,936 thousand tons, an increase of 360 thousand tons from that of the previous month at 2,576 thousand tons.
