JAKARTA — With a spirit of collaboration, the executive board of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) led by Eddy Martono made a visit to the headquarter of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (APN) recently in Jakarta.

The GAPKI entourage also includes GAPKI deputy chairmen, GAPKI’s expert council members, and GAPKI’s forest division team. They were received by APN President Director, Lieutenant General (Retired) Agus Sutomo, SE, and other members of APN management board.
PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara is a state-owned company (BUMN), which was assigned by the government under President Prabowo Subianto to manage oil palm plantations taken over by the Forest Regulatory Task force (Satgas PKH) from private companies due to unclear legal status, especially in their relations to forest areas. Previously transformed and renamed from PT Indra Karya, a state-owned company with main business interest of construction, Agrinas is envisioned by President Prabowo to help realizing national food and energy resilience based on natural resources available in the country, including the palm oil.
During the meeting both sides discussed about the stagnant growth of palm oil production during the last few years. They underlined the importance of collaborations to strengthen the position of Indonesian palm oil industries in helping realize the national food and energy resilience.
GAPKI and APN stated that all stakeholders, particularly the private sector and the government, should play active role in pushing up the growth of palm oil industries toward reaching higher productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness.
“APN exists as a friend for palm oil players. We’re ready to synergize in developing our palm oil industries,” said Kusdi Sastro Kidjan of Agrinas.
GAPKI and APN also agreed to establish a joint task force to conduct a thorough assessment on their joint operation (KSO) to increase the national productivity and efficiency of palm oil industries. It is expected to become a model of strategic partnership between private companies and BUMN companies in developing the palm oil sector in Indonesia.
“APN will continually become a strategic partner for Indonesian palm oil industries. We’ll be taking joint steps to develop our palm oil industries toward becoming more sustainable and more competitive at the global market,” said Kusdi. (*)
