Production, Consumption and Exports Up, Stock declines
JAKARTA — Production of CPO in February 2026 reached 5,015 thousand tons, an increase of 4.96% from 4,778 thousand tons at the previous month. Production of PKO in February also rose to 485 thousand tons from 458 thousand tons in January, so that total production of CPO + PKO in February 2026 amounted to 5,500 thousand tons, which was 5.04% higher than 5,236 thousand tons at the previous month. Year on year (YoY) as of February 2026, the production of CPO+PKO increased to 10,737 thousand tons or 28.94% higher than the production in 2025 at 8,327 thousand tons.
Total domestic consumption saw an increase of 9.55% from 2,104 thousand tons in January to 2,305 thousand tons in February 2026. The largest increase was seen in the consumption for foods at 16.55% from 846 thousand tons in January to 986 thousand tons in February. The consumption for biodiesel rose by 7.12% to 1,144 thousand tons from 1,068 thousand tons at the previous month. The consumption for oleo-chemical dropped -7.89% to 175 thousand tons from 190 thousand tons at the previous month.
Year on year (YoY) as of February 2026, the consumption increased to 4,409 thousand tons or 12.96% higher than the consumption in 2025 at 3,903 thousand tons. Total exports of palm oil products in February 2026 rose to 3,297 thousand tons or 7.01% from the exports in January 2026 at 3,081 thousand tons. The increase of exports was seen in the processed PKO to 171 thousand tons from 125 thousand tons at the previous month (+36.80%), in CPO it reached 395 thousand tons from 332 thousand tons (+18.98%), in processed palm oil reached 2,267 thousand tons from 2,172 thousand tons (+4.37%) and on oleochemical to 462 thousand tons from 450 thousand tons at the previous month (+2.67%).
Year on year (YoY) as of February 2026, the exports increased to 6,378 thousand tons or 33.96% higher than the exports in 2025 at 4,761 thousand tons. Based on destination country, the export increase in February was seen to China (+152 thousand tons), Malaysia (+116 thousand tons), EU 27 (+78 thousand tons), India (+56 thousand tons), USA (+43 thousand tons), and Middle East (+42 thousand tons). The export decrease was seen to Pakistan (-136 thousand tons), Africa (-68 thousand tons), Bangladesh (-40 thousand tons) and Russia (-26 thousand tons).
Year on year (YoY) as of February 2026, export increase was seen to China (+628 thousand tons), Malaysia (+336 thousand tons), EU 27 (+173 thousand tons), Russia (+150 thousand tons), Bangladesh (+57 thousand tons), India (+45 thousand tons), USA (+18 thousand tons), Middle East (9 thousand tons), while export decrease was seen to Pakistan (-15 thousand tons) and Africa (-14 thousand tons).
The export value of palm oil products in February increased from US$ 3.36 billion in January 2026 to US$ 3.69 billion in February or an increase of 9.70%.
Year on year (YoY) as of February 2026, the export value increased to US$ 7.05 billion or 28.88% higher than that in 2025 at US$ 5.47 billion. The increase of export value was caused by the increase of volume and average price during January – February 2026 at US$ 1,306/ton Cif Rotterdam, which was higher than the average price during January-February 2025 at US$ 1,218/ton Cif Rotterdam.
With initial stock in 2026 at 2,068 thousand tons, production of CPO+PKO in January – February reached 10,737 thousand tons, consumption in January-February at 4,409 thousand tons and exports during January-February 6,378 thousand tons, then final stock by the end of February 2026 amounted to 2,026 thousand tons, which is lower than 2,250 thousand tons at the end of February 2025.
