DSI Seeks To Boost Strategic Export Ecosystem Through Pilot Platform

JAKARTA –  State-owned company PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), which has been assigned to organize a single-gate export system, is seeking to strengthen the governance of Indonesia’s strategic commodity exports through the implementation of a pilot platform. This pilot aims to test DSI’s portal system, NADI (National Data Intelligence), which is set to be rolled out to exporters in stages.

The initiative involves six industry associations: the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA), the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (GIMNI), the Indonesian Nickel Industry Forum (FINI), the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), and the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA).

Representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the National Single Window Agency (LNSW), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), and Bank Indonesia were also in attendance. Government and industry involvement from the pilot stage onward is crucial to ensuring that the strengthening of export governance is carried out in a phased, measurable, and collaborative manner, while simultaneously supporting smooth trade operations and providing certainty for business players.

Sinthya Roesly, DSI’s Director of Finance and Treasury, stated that this pilot represents a concrete step toward building a system that is increasingly integrated with the needs of both the government and the business sector.

“As a strong unity striving for shared goals, the ecosystem we aim to create must be built collaboratively by both the government and industry players. Our priority is to enhance transparency and visibility while ensuring that export activities continue to run smoothly. Through this pilot, we can gather feedback, test processes together, and continuously refine the system under development. The ultimate goal is to create an export ecosystem that is more transparent and coordinated, thereby instilling greater confidence among business players and the global market regarding Indonesia’s strategic commodities,” she said.

Transition in line with regulatory development

In line with the evolution of the DSI’s mandate and regulations concerning strategic commodities, the government and the DSI are continuing discussions to ensure that future implementation aligns with updated provisions while maintaining the smooth flow of exports.

The involvement of the six industry associations is necessary since the pilot phase has been crucial to the platform’s development, particularly in ensuring that the established systems and mechanisms meet the operational needs of business players. The initiative has also been well-received by the associations, as it is seen as a way to strengthen export governance through data transparency and a more structured approach.

“We welcome this initiative because its objectives align with efforts to boost Indonesia’s exports. We hope this initiative will realize greater transparency and accountability, thereby helping to strengthen national exports,” said Priyadi, Chairman of APBI-ICMA.

A similar view was expressed by Paulus Edwin Gunawan Sutanto, a representative of GIMNI, who noted that the initiative could provide the industry with clearer analysis and benchmarks. “This is an excellent initiative, as such analysis is needed to serve as a shared reference. With more structured methodologies and pricing benchmarks in place, we hope to collaborate on improvements for a better Indonesia,” he said.

Feedback from associations and business players gathered during the pilot phase will help improve the platform, ensuring that its implementation is effective, aligned with regulatory developments, and relevant to industry needs.

In addition to building its platform and strengthening coordination with the government and industry, DSI continues to enhance its capabilities by leveraging talent with experience in the commodities and global trade sectors.

Daniel Lim, who brings 29 years of experience in the palm oil sector across Indonesia and Malaysia, has joined as an Agribusiness Advisor, bolstering DSI’s insight into trade dynamics, global markets, and the palm oil value chain. His appointment complements DSI’s approach—which integrates technology, data, industry experience, and trading expertise—in building an ecosystem for the export of strategic commodities.

The platform’s pilot phase will serve as a testing ground to validate processes, gather feedback, and refine mechanisms in collaboration with the government and industry. Driven by strengthened partnerships and enhanced trading capabilities, DSI keeps pursuing efforts to build an Indonesian ecosystem of strategic commodity export, which is more transparent, trustworthy, and integrated, while becoming increasingly competitive in the global market.
