<\/a><\/p>\n\u201cDMSI decided to award these three outstanding people for their innovations in the development of palm oil industry. With these awards we hope to motivate all stakeholders to keep developing the palm oil industry,\u201d said Prof. Tien R Muchtadi, the chairman of the DMSI Award Organizing Committee. The awards were presented during a virtual ceremony on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
DMSI Chairman Derom Bangun said that the awards were the first given by DMSI to those who contributed extraordinarily to the development of palm oil industry. \u201cThey have given extraordinary contribution for the development of biodiesel and bio-hydrocarbon. We hope these awards will motivate other researchers and people to give their contribution to the nation through the development of palm oil industry from upstream to downstream sectors. DMSI which accommodates palm oil industries from upstream to downstream, pays equal attention to all sectors in the palm oil industry. In the future, we\u2019ll also give awards for those who give big contribution in the upstream, such as in the research of oil palm seeds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Derom said that the award was given to Prof. Subagjo for his achievement in creating the catalyst that enables Indonesia to develop biodiesel from B20, B30 and D100. The research on the catalyst has been conducted since 1982 and the resulted catalyst has been used since last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe use of red-white (Indonesian) catalyst for the conversion of palm oil to biofuel is really a big achievement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the award for Dr. Tatang Hernas was given for his achievement in developing biodiesel. And the award for Ir. Sahat Sinaga was given for his contribution in the development of downstream palm oil industry. The initiatives taken by Sahat Sinaga and his team in developing the bio-hydrocarbon has also brought positive impact to the palm oil industry,\u201d Derom said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahendra Siregar said that the three innovators deserve a high appreciation for their achievements in the palm oil development. \u201cThese awards will create a high motivation among stakeholders and the general public to pursue further development of the palm oil industry in Indonesia. Your old age is no hindrance for you to keep giving positive contribution. You\u2019ve provided exemplary and pioneering work for the sake of Indonesia\u2019s palm oil advancement,\u201d said Mahendra.<\/p>\n
Prof. Ismunandar, an acting expert staff on infrastructure at the ministry of research and technology, admitted that the red-white catalyst developed by Prof. Subagjo has also inspired other researches. He cited the example of red-white vaccine of Covid-19 which is currently being developed.<\/p>\n
Musdhalifah Machmud, deputy in charge of food and agriculture coordination at the economic coordinating ministry, has also given a high appreciation to the three innovators, saying that their contributions have been enjoyed by the palm oil stakeholders. \u201cThey function like teachers for us,\u201d said Musdhalifah.
