{"id":19923,"date":"2021-03-14T19:42:10","date_gmt":"2021-03-14T12:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/?p=19923"},"modified":"2021-03-14T19:42:10","modified_gmt":"2021-03-14T12:42:10","slug":"gapki-sets-up-task-force-to-expedite-oil-palm-replanting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/news\/2021\/03\/14\/gapki-sets-up-task-force-to-expedite-oil-palm-replanting\/","title":{"rendered":"Gapki Sets Up Task Force To Expedite Oil Palm Replanting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JAKARTA \u2013 The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) has set up a task force to accelerate the implementation of government\u2019s program of replanting smallholders\u2019 oil palm plantations.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/news\/19923\/gapki-sets-up-task-force-to-expedite-oil-palm-replanting\/replanting_2021_gapki\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19924\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19924 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/allies-en\/uploads\/2021\/03\/replanting_2021_gapki.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"809\" height=\"477\" data-id=\"19924\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/dir-site\/uploads\/2021\/03\/replanting_2021_gapki.jpg 809w, https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/dir-site\/uploads\/2021\/03\/replanting_2021_gapki-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gapki.id\/en\/dir-site\/uploads\/2021\/03\/replanting_2021_gapki-768x453.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 809px) 100vw, 809px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The task force, which is locally known as Satgas, is assigned to help preparation, implementation and supervision of the replanting at the smallholders\u2019 oil palm plantations that are partners of member companies of Gapki.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment of the task force is a follow-up step to the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the replanting recently by the economic coordinating ministry, the agriculture ministry\u2019s plantation directorate general, and the oil palm plantation fund management board (BPDP-KS).<\/p>\n<p>The government hopes that signing of the MoU will accelerate the replanting program in order to increase the productivity and sustainability of the smallholders\u2019 plantations. The agreement involves the participation of 18 cooperatives and smallholder groups, and 07 member companies of Gapki. The MoU represents at least 18,214 hectares of oil palm plantations or 10% of the total yearly replanting target.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Indonesian palm oil industry has not only played an important role for Indonesian economy, but it also contributes significantly to the global food resilience. At least 33% of the global supply of vegetable oils comes from Indonesia,\u201d the economic coordinating ministry\u2019s Deputy in charge of food and agribusiness coordination, Musdhalifah said in a written statement on Tuesday, 09 March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Despite positive contribution to the national economic growth, the palm oil sector is still facing many challenges in its development.
