Exports & Production Drop, Stock Up <\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

JAKARTA \u2013 Production of CPO in May 2024 reached 3,885 thousand tons or a decrease of 5.59% from 4,115 thousand tons in April 2024. The production of PKO also dropped by around 25 thousand tons from 393 thousand tons in April 2024 to 368 thousand tons in May 2024. Year on year (YoY) until May 2024, production was lower by 3.19% from the production in 2023.<\/p>\n

Total local consumption in May 2024 increased by 2.64% if compared to that of April 2024, from 1,893 thousand tons to 1,943 thousand tons. Consumption in May for foods decreased to 849 thousand tons, a decrease of 1.51% from 862 thousand tons in April.
\nSo was the consumption for oleochemical from 188 thousand tons in April to 187 thousand tons in May, while the consumption for biodiesel in May reached 907 thousand tons, an increase of 7.72% from 842 thousand tons in April. Year on year (YoY) until May 2024, local consumption rose by 2.06% from that of the same period last year.<\/p>\n

Total exports in May dropped by 9.73% from 2,178 thousand tons in April to 1,966 thousand tons in May. The biggest export drop was seen in CPO at 58.04% from 174 thousand tons in April to 73 thousand tons in May, export of processed CPO from 1,504 thousand tons in April to 1,365 thousand tons in May, while the export of oleochemical rose by 20.50% from 356 thousand tons in April to 429 thousand tons. Year on year (YoY) until May, the palm oil export in 2024 is 8.87% lower than that of 2023.<\/p>\n

The export value in May dropped 12.24% to US$1,727 million from US$1,968 million in April. The decrease was caused by the decrease in volume and also price from US$1,039\/ton cif Rotterdam in April to US$981\/ton in May. The largest decrease of export volume from April to May was seen to India from 332 thousand tons to 184 thousand tons, followed by the Middle East from 119 thousand tons to 63 thousand tons, Egypt from 71 thousand tons to 22 thousand tons and Pakistan from 182 thousand tons to 133 thousand tons, and Netherlands from 169 thousand tons to 108 thousand tons, although as a whole the exports to EU rose from 290 thousand tons to 310 thousand tons.<\/p>\n

The largest increase of export volume in May was seen to China from 315 thousand tons in April to 379 thousand tons in May, Bangladesh from 67 thousand tons to 94 thousand tons, Spain from 38 thousand tons to 70 thousand tons and Italy from 67 thousand tons to 84 thousand tons. Year on year (YoY) until May, the exports to Pakistan in 2024 is higher by 13% compared to the export in 2023, to India higher by 4.19%, USA higher by 11% and the Middle East higher by 9.56%.<\/p>\n

With initial stock in May at 3,741 thousand tons, production of CPO and PKO at 4,253 thousand tons, local consumption at 1,943 thousand tons and exports at 1,966 thousand tons, then final stock in May 2024 increased to 4,092 thousand tons or an increase of around 9.38% from the stock in April 2024.<\/p>\n
