JAKARTA \u2013 Craig Sams, one of the founding members of Whole Earth Foods, admits that the use of palm oil makes their products of peanut butter healthier, fresher and no longer rancid.<\/p>\n

The Whole Earth is a global food company that supports healthier lifestyles and provides access to high-quality plant-based sweeteners, flavor enhancers and other foods through a diverse portfolio of brands such as Whole Earth\u00ae, Pure Via\u00ae, Wholesome\u00ae, Swerve\u00ae, Canderel\u00ae.<\/p>\n

Craig Sams made the confession in a letter published on Friday (17\/1\/2025) by The Guardian, an influential newspaper based in the United Kingdom (UK).<\/p>\n

In this letter, Craig Sams, who lives in East Sussex, England, said that he felt compelled to comment on a writer’s statement in The Guardian which disparaged palm oil in peanut butter (The food filter: who makes the best crunchy peanut butter?). The article was published on Saturday (11\/1\/2025).<\/p>\n

According to Craig Sams at the start of Whole Earth Foods, the company stated that “separating oil is natural, just stir it again.”<\/p>\n

“When we learned that the frying process made peanut oil susceptible to rancidity, with negative effects on health and taste, we looked for ways to stabilize it to prevent this from happening, without using hydrogenated fats like other brands,” said Craig Sams as quoted by The Guardian.<\/p>\n

According to Craig Sams, the addition of 3% palm oil under condition of controlled temperature prevents oil separation, the accompanying rancidity, unpleasant taste and negative impact on health. \u201cDue to the palm oil application, Whole Earth Foods has become a market leader,\u201d said Craig Sams.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that two-thirds of the palm oil that enters Europe ends up as biodiesel, which powers cars and commercial delivery vehicles that take products to consumers. \u201cOrganic palm oil is produced in sustainable and ethical conditions,\u201d writes Craig Sams.<\/p>\n
