JAKARTA – The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) has emphasized \u00a0the importance of preparing regulations in implementing the single-gate export policy through PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI). According to GAPKI, the ongoing transition period should be used to carefully formulate technical guidelines so that it can be implemented smoothly in 2027.<\/p>\n
GAPKI Chairman Eddy Martono stated that all operational mechanisms and implementing regulations need to be finalized in detail during the transition period. That way, when the single-gate export policy is fully implemented, all business players will have legal certainty and clear procedures.<\/p>\n
He stated that the DSI needs to ensure that all implementing regulations accommodate the interests of the entire chain of the palm oil industry, from smallholders and processing companies to exporters and traders. Regulatory readiness is crucial to ensure that the new policy will not disrupt the activities of national palm oil exports.<\/p>\n
Eddy said that the palm oil trade is complex, with various types of buyers and varying product specifications. Therefore, the single-gate export scheme must be carefully designed to avoid obstacles for domestic exporters and buyers in the international market.<\/p>\n
GAPKI believes that the policy should be implemented in stages if all technical aspects are not yet fully ready. This gradual approach is considered necessary to minimize the risk of bottlenecks or delays in the export process, which could potentially disrupt trade and reduce Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global market. Furthermore, GAPKI also highlighted the presence of traders who have been involved in the palm oil trade, including businesses with relatively small transaction volumes. According to Eddy, the government needs to provide clarity regarding the position and mechanisms for traders’ involvement in the new system to avoid causing business uncertainty.<\/p>\n
He reminded that traders also contribute to the economy through job creation and deserve a place in the national palm oil trading ecosystem. Clear regulations will help maintain business continuity while preserving existing market options.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, GAPKI emphasized that it will continue to provide inputs to the government to ensure that the implementation of the single-gate export policy will not reduce the market access that the Indonesian palm oil industry has built over the years.<\/p>\n
Eddy added that currently the majority of Indonesia’s palm oil exports consist of downstream products with high added value. Therefore, export management by the DSI should be carried out optimally to prevent stagnation that could potentially lead to a loss of Indonesia’s market share internationally.<\/p>\n
According to GAPKI, the government’s policy remains supportive. However, the organization emphasized that DSI’s readiness, regulatory clarity, and gradual implementation are key to maintaining smooth exports and maintaining the competitiveness of the national palm oil industry.
