JAKARTA \u2013 The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) has been continually strengthening public understanding about Indonesia\u2019s palm oil industry amid the mounting global challenges facing the strategic industry.<\/p>\n

As part of such efforts, GAPKI has taken strategic steps to strengthen communication with the media to ensure that information about the palm oil industry is presented in a more comprehensive, accurate, data-driven manner.<\/p>\n

GAPKI Communication Division Head Bandung Sahari said that various challenges facing the palm oil industry are common problems that need to be understood and resolved jointly and comprehensively. Therefore, the solution needs collaborations between industrial players, media, government, and other related stakeholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, we all as stakeholders have to realize that we need a joint effort to tackle the challenges for the sake of our palm oil industry and also for the interests of Indonesian people as a whole,\u201d Bandung said in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (18\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n

GAPKI strengthens synergy of palm oil industry and media<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of the initiatives undertaken by GAPKI is to strengthen the relationship and synergy between palm oil industry \u00a0players and the press.<\/p>\n

According to Bandung, more intensive communication between the palm oil industry and the media is needed to improve public understanding of the palm oil sector. While the industry plays a major role in Indonesia’s economy, a great deal of information about the sector remains widely unknown to the public.<\/p>\n

Therefore, communication between GAPKI and the media should not merely take place when issues or problems arise, but rather be maintained on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

“Consequently, the communication established should not be limited to times when problems emerge. But it should be conducted continuously so that a more comprehensive understanding of the palm oil industry can be realized,” said Bandung.<\/p>\n

Palm oil information should be supported with complete data<\/strong><\/h2>\n

GAPKI believes that the dissemination of information regarding the palm oil industry needs to be supported by comprehensive data and information. With better availability of data, discussions on the palm oil sector can be expected to become more substantive and provide the public with a more holistic picture of the national strategic industry.<\/p>\n

Bandung hopes that a closer relationship between GAPKI and journalists will foster more in-depth reporting on the palm oil industry.<\/p>\n

Regular communication can also help identify the information needs of various stakeholders, both domestically and internationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is much that needs to be known, yet the public remains unaware. If our data and information are comprehensive\u2014facilitated by our intensive interaction\u2014we hope to convey more substantive messages and deliver a significant impact on society, and above all, on our nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Addressing Palm challenges needs shared understanding<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Indonesia’s palm oil industry is deeply interconnected with various economic and social aspects. Consequently, the challenges facing the industry must be viewed comprehensively rather than from a single perspective.<\/p>\n

Strengthening communication is crucial to ensure that the public can better understand the information about palm oil production, trade, government policies, sustainability, exports, and the industry’s contribution to the national economy.<\/p>\n

GAPKI recognizes the media’s vital role in helping convey this information to the public.<\/p>\n

Through open, data-driven communication, it is hoped that various stakeholders will gain a better understanding of the development of the national palm oil industry.<\/p>\n

Forwatan supports strengthening of palm communication<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, the Agriculture Journalist Forum (Forum Wartawan Pertanian \u2013 Forwatan) Chairman Beledug Bantolo stated that strengthening communication between the palm oil industry and the media could help improve the dissemination of information about the palm oil sector to the general public.<\/p>\n

“Strengthening the relationship between the industry and the media is a crucial part of building a more open ecosystem of communication for the palm oil sector,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to Bantolo, the relationship between industry players and the media should not be cultivated only when specific issues or problems arise. Continuous communication is considered essential for fostering a shared understanding of the palm oil industry’s development.<\/p>\n

Sustainable communication to increase public understanding<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Strengthening communication among GAPKI, the palm oil industry, and the media is expected to foster a more open and credible information ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Through sustained communication, information on Indonesia’s palm oil industry can be delivered with more comprehensive data to the general public.<\/p>\n

This is also expected to encourage reporting on the palm oil industry that is more accurate, substantive, balanced, and well-targeted.<\/p>\n
